Social Prescribing is Growing in Regina with Funding for a Second Community Connector!

Exciting Announcement!
We are thrilled to announce the addition of a second Social Prescribing Community Connector to our team! This new role will focus specifically on supporting Indigenous Elders and older adults aged 55+, expanding our capacity to provide holistic, culturally grounded care in the community.
Thank you to the Saskatchewan Blue Cross for funding this much needed position!

What is Social Prescribing?
Social Prescribing is a person-centered approach to health that recognizes the importance of practical supports and social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural connections. It moves beyond clinical care to address the broader determinants of health—acknowledging that wellness is deeply connected to our relationships, environment, and sense of belonging.
A Culturally Rooted Approach
This new position will be deeply grounded in Indigenous community values, emphasizing reconnection to language, land, ceremony, and support systems as key pathways to wellness. Healing and health are strengthened when rooted in culture and tradition.
Working Together for Greater Impact
While each Community Connector will bring unique focus areas, both will collaborate closely—supporting one another and sharing knowledge to benefit all those we serve.
Guided by Indigenous Knowledge
We are honoured to welcome an Advisory Group of Indigenous Knowledge Keepers to guide and support both the Steering Committee and our Community Connectors. Their wisdom and leadership are essential to ensuring our approach is respectful, effective, and community-driven.
Special Thanks
We also want to acknowledge and thank the many individuals and organizations in Regina who have played an important role in making this initiative a reality. Your support and collaboration are deeply appreciated.
Job Posting
The new job opportunity will be posted very soon, and one lucky applicant will get to be Saskatchewan’s first Social Prescribing Community Connector focusing on supporting Indigenous Elders and older adults (55+) right here in Regina!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and deepen this work in the spirit of community, respect, and holistic wellness!
